I'll post it in its entirety, from our fearless leader, Helen Killer:
"I think it's time we started practicing what we've been preaching. This entire site (and much of our bond here) is rooted in the idea that disapproval cannot kill you. Everyone has different taste levels in all things, and it's all subjective. So why get so wounded when we're talking about body preference?
Okay, so your body shape is not pleasing to some people. So what? Is every body shape pleasing to you?
The woman one of you linked to earlier - the vegetarian who gets the "fat hate" - is posting nude photos, and asking for your reaction. And just like the people we feature, just like anyone else who puts themselves out there, she cannot control the reaction she gets. The freedom she has to post nudes doesn't trump anyone else's freedom to react negatively to her. The world is not Etsy. People can say mean things.
The trick in life is not to police everything that every asshole says. The trick is to stop giving words and opinions and total strangers so much power that they can impact the way you feel about yourself. That's the only thing you can control.
And I'll just bet that some of you have given that same lecture to the cupcakes in the Etsy forums - the ones that fall apart when someone withholds their approval - because you know that opinions are meaningless.
Let people have their taste. Let them be assholes about it. Let it go.
The only opinion of your physicality and beauty that matters is your own."
